It is interesting to me that the voices heard the loudest throughout history are of those of the victor. We can also say, those who won the “gun” fight. Since the 1400s, Gun’s creation, brown folks have often been at the end of that gun and not as the victors. That is why I find this period of time so interesting. We have experienced a troubling school shooting as a nation and a block buster movie that are seemingly not related. Well they are related in one way. The school shooting and the ensuing response is showing where our country sits in relation to our weapons and the fact that those with the guns are attempting to control our trajectory through the legal foundations of this country. In juxtaposition of this, the blockbuster movie has on full display the beautiful creativity of a people usually considered to be Gun’s victims.
